White Mountain Tribal Police Officer Kills Shooter At Hon-dah Resort Casino – Idle No More

WHITE MOUNTAIN APACHE RESERVATION — A domestic dispute turned deadly at the Hon-Dah Resort Casino on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in northern Arizona on Saturday evening.

The deadly incident began about 6:30 p.m. in the Hon-Dah Resort Casino’s parking lot with an argument between a husband and wife. As the argument escalated, the man went to his car and grabbed a rifle. His wife and a child ran inside the casino complex to avoid harm.

A casino security guard went outside to assess the situation and was shot twice by the husband. The shooter has not yet been identified by law enforcement at press time on Monday night.

A casino patron was also injured from bullet or glass fragments, according to White Mountain Apache Police Chief Travis Tessay, Sr.

Both men injured were treated and released by Sunday evening.
