Tomorrow, Oct 7th, is the first day the United Nations Special Rapporteur James Anaya will be in Canada to investigate the situation of Indigenous Peoples.  In light of this, many actions in northern Turtle Island (now called Canada) are focusing on the proposed First Nations Education Act (FNEA) and the Royal Proclamation of 1763 as a way to bring attention to Canada’s unilateral policy, legislative agendas and their unfulfilled promises made to Indigenous Peoples.  This Day of Action is also meant to raise awareness about the continued assimilative agenda of Indigenous Peoples put forth by nation-states and we ask you to join in the mass movement for Indigenous sovereignty, Treaties, protection of lands, waters and Creation.  We encourage people to continue to take action throughout the month of October as part of anti-Columbus day events and other calls to action across the globe.
