- Approach
- A template will be created for each community to start; it will be a point of reference as each community will be different.
- A team will be required from each community with specific responsibilities. There will be a backup person for each position in the event that something can’t be accomplished. Most tasks may require up to four people.
- The website has valid and useful information for self-directed learning.
- Idle No More News Group will have regular broadcasts on ustream for interactive assistance to team members. All sessions will be taped and broken down into relevant information sessions for later viewing.
- A network will be created among communities for sharing and supporting each other.
- Organization
- Team leaders – Will need at least four.
- Responsible for moving the engagement activities forward and ensuring all tasks are completed.
- Will need to have strong organization, public speaking ability and conflict resolution skills.
- Will require a commitment of at least 16 hours per week to the task.
- Logistic Support – At least 4
- Responsible for ensuring meeting location is available and appropriate for each task will share this information with all team members
- Responsible for ensuring up to date contact information is available.
- Responsible for the set up and clean up of meeting location
- Will need strong organization and time management skills
- Will require a commitment of at least 6 hours per week.
- Communication Support – at least 4
- Responsible for ensuring meeting material is available, handouts reference material, flipcharts markers, computer, and projector not necessary but easier.
- Limited responsibility but very necessary.
- Will require at least two hours per week
- Communication Collection and Delivery – at least two
- Responsible for ensuring accurate minutes and recording of community engagement.
- Responsible for Creating posters, agenda and thank your notices.
- Will assist in the preparation of written documents and compiling community engagement outcomes.
- Will need strong written skills, able to convert meeting minutes into concise information.
- Will require at least 16 hours of time dedicated to task.
- Team leaders – Will need at least four.
- Nutritional Support Two types –
- Donations – Hunters or interested community members donate food items to community engagement session. Many will not be able to actively participate but can donate food items.
- Cooks Cleaners and Servers
- Community people can contribute their skills a lot of sharing and fun can happen in kitchens when women come together.
- Knowledge is shared, connections are made.
- Cooks are responsible for informing logistics of requirements for donations.
- Cooks may complete or direct prep work to be done
- Cook or bake food for event ensuring health and safety precautions are followed.
- Cleaners may be bussers, dishwashers, pot scrubbers or table and counter cleaners
- Servers ensure that all cutlery, cups, plates, condiments and service utensils are available.
- Volunteer time two hours to four hours depending on task
- Spokesperson at least two
- Many community members may not feel comfortable relating their ideas in a public forum.
- Designated persons will take concerns forward during the forum. They may take questions forward in a written way.
- Skills required will be to effectively construct a question to ensure it is what the community member intended.
- These people will assist in the preparation of the forum knowledge compilation.
- These people must have integrity and trust of the community.
- Will require at least 16 hours in total
